The Peachtree City Garden Club is a place where people can make new friends, share a common interest in gardening and give back to the community. The garden club meets the third Thursday of each month (September – May) from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at The Gathering Place. The club is open to men and women of all ages who live in Peachtree City and the surrounding area. At monthly meetings, guest speakers share their expertise on a wide-range of topics, attendees swap gardening tips and ask for help with specific garden problems and club officers lead a short business meeting to keep members updated on club issues.
The mission of the Peachtree City Garden Club is primarily recreational: to expand the Club’s knowledge of and interest in gardening and related activities, provide opportunities for members to meet and associate with others who have similar horticultural interests and to develop educational and beautification projects to benefit the community.
The garden club has a rich history in Peachtree City. The first meeting was held in May of 1973, with Anne Moon, the first president, presiding. The club quickly grew and became active in Peachtree City, sharing the members’ love of gardening with residents of this new community. In 2008, the garden club celebrated its 35th anniversary as an active organization in Peachtree City.
To help prepare for Peachtree City’s 50th Anniversary in 2009, the Peachtree City Garden Club designed a low-maintenance colorful garden around the Gazebo at Luther Glass Park, off of Peachtree Parkway. The Gazebo at Luther Glass Park is a focal point of the area and a place where families host weddings, picnics and family reunions. The Club also updated the Nita Brown Memorial Garden at The Fred Brown Amphitheater. The Club’s Project Steering Committee is busy planning future gardening projects to benefit the City and surrounding areas.
We look forward to getting to know you better at the Peachtree City Garden Club!
